LOCATION: The Lodge at Vail is located within Vail Village in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. This intimate alpine boutique hotel is situated at the base of North America's largest ski resort.
THE RESORT: When Vail Mountain opened in December 1962 with one gondola, two chair lifts, eight ski instructors and a $5 lift ticket, the U.S. Forest Service stipulated that there be at least one lodge with a minimum of 30 sleeping rooms. The Lodge at Vail, which had been open for just one month, soon became the cornerstone property of what would eventually become Vail Village. Renowned for relaxed luxury and impeccable personal service, The Lodge at Vail (voted Preferred Hotels' 2003-2004 "Hotel of the Year") combines the elegance and charm of an alpine inn with the warmth of western hospitality. Guests can find all they need within a few steps from the lodge including the village's main ski lift and a variety of boutiques, bars, restaurants and nightclubs.
ACCOMMODATIONS: The Lodge at Vail's 165 rooms and suites are reminiscent of a fine European chalet with accents of mahogany and marble. Featuring mountain and village views, the luxurious accommodations offer antique armoires, fine leather furnishings and thick terry robes. Each of the diverse 46 suites with one, two or three bedrooms are equipped with wood-burning fireplaces and private walk-out balconies.
THE GAME CREEK CHALET: Situated 10,500 feet atop Vail Mountain, nestled in the glades of the Game Creek Bowl, this secluded hideaway is a four-bedroom, four-bath, European-style retreat. Guests of the Chalet enjoy an outdoor Jacuzzi, meals prepared by a private chef and a personal mountain guide who provides lift tickets and private ski instruction.
RESTAURANTS: The Lodge at Vail offers two exceptional restaurants and a live entertainment bar. Rated the number one restaurant in Vail by ZAGATSurvey, The Wildflower serves an eclectic array of creative American cuisine under the supervision of Executive Chef Mark Chmielewski. The Wildflower offers one of the area's only tasting menus, which changes daily and utilizes seasonal fruits, herbs, and vegetables grown in its own garden. Guests can choose from an extensive list of wines from around the world, which has earned Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence. Cucina Rustica is open for breakfast year-round. During the ski season, the restaurant's renowned skiers' lunch buffet offers an extensive selection with culinary influences from around the world including Mediterranean, American, and Italian. In winter evenings, Cucina Rustica serves as Vail's premier Italian restaurant with a nightly antipasti table and extensive menu featuring Colorado home-grown produce including hand-picked wild mushrooms, under the supervision of Chef Peter Carltakes.
